Business ID
The identifier every Finnish company and organisation receives on registration.
The Business ID (Y-tunnus) is a Finnish company's primary identifier. It is issued when the company is entered in the Business Information System (YTJ), it never changes, and it is not reissued to anyone else after the company is removed from the register.
It is written as seven digits, a hyphen and a check digit — 1927400-1, for example. Without the hyphen it is eight digits. The check digit means an invalid identifier can be spotted without a register lookup.
Every registered actor has one: limited companies, partnerships, cooperatives, associations, foundations and sole traders alike.
